Who We Are

This company was established in 1985 as Mission Viejo Raingutter. In 1990, Jerry VanDerMark assumed management of the business. In 2002, Jerry and his partner, Michele Vastyshak, incorporated the company and changed its name to Rainstoppers Inc. At that time, a limited amount of architectural sheet metal work was added to the company’s scope of services.

In 2026, after many years of hands-on installation and sales experience, Richard Fernandez assumed ownership from Jerry VanDerMark and renamed the company Rainstoppers Sheet Metal and Raingutters. With his extensive industry experience, Jeff Waltz as his Sheet Metal Estimator (with over 15 years of experience) and knowledgeable installation crews, Richard is committed to maintaining the company’s high standards of quality while continuing to grow Rainstoppers within the metal roofing, raingutter, and sheet metal industries.

Raingutter installation remains the primary focus of Rainstoppers. We install copper, aluminum, and select steel raingutters and downspouts, with a specialty in copper systems. Having our own sheet metal shop allows us to fabricate custom components that most seamless raingutter companies cannot provide.

Rainstoppers does not subcontract any installation work. All projects are completed by our own trained technicians. Our top two lead installers have each been with Rainstoppers for 8 to 10 years, ensuring consistency, craftsmanship, and accountability on every job.

For sheet metal installations, we serve the Central Orange County coastal area. For raingutter installations, we typically work within a 40-mile radius of Costa Mesa, and we will travel farther for larger projects.

Rainstoppers carries all required insurance, including a liability policy that specifically includes coverage for multi-unit buildings, such as apartments and condominiums. Most basic liability policies only cover single-family homes, and this important coverage detail is not shown on a standard insurance certificate unless specifically requested.

We take special precautions when working in marine and high-wind environments, including installing additional fasteners and carefully leveling raingutters to ensure proper slope, helping prevent clogs and overflows.

Rainstoppers stands behind its work, offers fair and reasonable pricing, and has a proven track record of excellent service and long-term reliability.
